The Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office was formally recognized for 150 years of service to the community with a special resolution presented this morning at the Tom Green County Commissioners Court. The resolution commemorates the office’s establishment in 1875 and highlights its commitment to protecting and serving the county’s citizens. The Sheriff’s Office was first organized April 7, 1875, by Sheriff Frank Lamonte. Since then, the office has been held by 23 sheriffs and has grown to a staff of 236 members, including those at the Tom Green County Detention Center. Following the reading, Sheriff Hanna presented commemorative 150th Anniversary badges to command staff members, with other commissioned officers receiving theirs throughout the week.
